This is the third time in six years the English Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has used a body of work from Kofi Kinaata as part of course materials for students.
In 2016, the hit song “Susuka” was recommended, two years later in 2018, the hit Confession was a course material and four years later in 2022, Things Fall Apart. All these songs have earned him the Songwriter of the Year award in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
In a post online, Voice of KNUST on Twitter shared that the Hiplife artiste’s song ‘Things Fall Apart’ has been authorized for literature students in level 200 for the first semester in the 2021/2022 academic year.
In the paper attached to the post, parts of the song sung in Fante have all been translated to English. Further on; the page noted that the song was selected because of the literary devices and lyrical arrangements of stanzas set up.
He is the only artiste in history of the music fraternity to win the Songwriter of the Year award four (4) times.
