The GFA has officially confirmed that Asante Kotoko will be crowned winners of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) in their final home game of the season.
On Thursday, the Porcupine Warriors dispelled any concerns about recovering the title for the first time since 2014, drawing 1-1 against AshantiGold in a thrilling match-day 29 contest.
The stalemate at Obuasi gave Kotoko an insurmountable 10-point lead over Bechem United and Medeama SC, who are tied for second place in the league standings with 50 points and three games remaining.
With their 25th victory, Asante Kotoko extends their record as the most successful team in the domestic top-flight tournament.
Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum’s men have games against Great Olympics in Accra next Sunday, a home finale against Elmina Sharks, and a trip to Accra Lions to finish the season.
After the Sharks game, the league organizers and presenting crew will be at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with the coveted trophy and medals to crown Kotoko.
“On Sunday, June 12, 2022, when Asante Kotoko SC hosts Elmina Sharks FC on Matchday 33, the Ghana Football Association will proclaim Asante Kotoko SC as winners of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.”

The match will begin at 6 p.m. at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, according to a statement on the Ghana Football Association’s website.
“Officials from the GFA will be at the Baba Yara Stadium to award the GPL trophy and medals to the club’s players and technical staff,” the statement continued.
The reward money for winning the league will also be awarded to the club.”
After 31 games, Asante Kotoko has accumulated 60 points.
It’s unclear whether they’ll reach the 62 points scored by dethroned champions Hearts of Oak last season
