Section 211 of the National Pensions Act of 2008 governs the appointment (ACT 766).
Effective January 30, 2023, the minister will be in charge of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) and the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
The National Pensions Act (766), which was passed in 2008, requires that all parallel pension schemes be unified and brought under the three-tier system, but these provisions have yet to be implemented.
He stated this when he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee on February 1, 2023.
The minority caucus in parliament, however, has been strongly opposed to the new appointment.
