Mohamed Salah of Liverpool has claimed that he is the ‘best’ in his position and that he outperforms his opponents statistically.
After another successful season for Jurgen Klopp’s team, the Egyptian attacker has been crowned FWA Footballer of the Year for 2022.
Despite a recent slump in form, he has 30 goals in 48 games across all competitions this season and is presently leading the Golden Boot race.
And the 29-year-old appears to feel that his efforts this season are deserving of the prize, claiming that he is better than any other player in his position, including Red’s teammates Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz.
Salah told beIN SPORTS, through Goal, that “if you compare me to any player in my position, not only in my team but in the globe, you will find that I am the best.”
‘I always put my job first and do my best, and my numbers back up my words.
‘I enjoy setting new challenges for myself, working in new ways, and making a difference, and that is my responsibility.’
Salah’s audacious remark comes before two key final matchups for Klopp’s team, the first of which is this Saturday at Wembley.
This weekend, Liverpool will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final before facing Real Madrid for a seventh Champions League title.
