The New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership has made a GH10,000 cash donation to the family of the late Christian Atsu.

The NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua, as well as the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, Nasara coordinator, Aziz Haruna Futah, and other officials, expressed condolences to the late footballer’s family.

The remains of Christian Atsu, a former Ghana international footballer who died in a devastating earthquake in Turkey, arrived on Sunday.

On February 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, killing more than 44,000 people in both countries.

Meanwhile, former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah led a delegation of national team players to pay their respects to the bereaved Atsu family.

Rabiu Mohammed, Jerry Akaminko, Kwadwo Asamoah, Derek Boateng, and Lydia Forson, all Ghana players, were in attendance.

Others include Stephen Appiah’s uncle, Nii Kwadwo Appiah (Father of the Jamestown Stool), and Appiah’s wife, Hannah Bentil.
