Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) under Jerry John Rawlings’ regime, Peter Tenganabang Nanfuri, has died, according to reports.
According to family sources, the former police chief died on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Mr Nanfuri, known as the “No Nonsense Man,” was the Director of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) from 1986 to 1989.
He was appointed Inspector General of Police in 1996.
In 2007, he was enskinned as the Naa Ansoleh Ganaa II of the Jirapa Traditional Area after serving in the Ghana Police Service.
He was born on October 12, 1942, in Jirapa, Ghana’s Upper East Region.
He attended the University of Ghana, Legon, for his undergraduate studies.
