After their sex tape was released on social media, two adolescent lovers — a tricycle driver and a ticket salesperson at the Wa Central Market in the Upper West Region – each suffered 20 lashes.
The teens were flogged after the Waala Traditional Area’s Overlord, Wa-Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, ordered their caning by several Wa youngsters.
The alleged sex video was posted on social media by the lady in issue on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
As a result, the two were chastised for violating Waala Traditional Area norms and traditions.
The two lovers were going to take 100 canes apiece, but that number was cut to 20.
After it was discovered that leaked sex films were on the rise among the young in the Wa municipality, the Waala Traditional Area enacted a by-law prohibiting such acts in late 2021.
The Waala Traditional Area’s Overlord has warned that anyone who releases their sex tapes or naked images would face Traditional Area Bye-laws.
