A joint military-police patrol team is currently patrolling the streets of Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District of the Eastern region to prevent retaliatory attacks following the alleged murder of a resident by a nomadic herdsman.
The incident on Friday resulted in the burning of some houses and properties belonging to nomadic herders in the Maame Krobo Zongo community.
An early intervention by Eastern Regional Police Command personnel prevented the incident from escalating Friday evening, as the police were able to transport the nomadic herdsmen from Mame Krobo to Donkokrom to avoid reprisal attacks.
Military officers were flown in from Accra on Saturday morning to assist the regional police command in managing the situation.
A planned briefing by the police and military to calm the irate community members ended inconclusively, as the youth demanded justice.
