Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the newly sworn-in Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has revealed the real reason for changing the NDC Minority Caucus of Parliament after much deliberation and dithering.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, who succeeded Samuel Ofosu Ampofo as party leader, stated that he was torn between reshuffling the NDC leadership in Parliament and resigning.
And he had no option but to resign.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah revealed the real reason for the brutal reshuffle that has worried many party faithful, stating that the leadership of Haruna Iddrisu failed to cooperate with the Speaker of Parliament as expected, so he had to do the necessary and get leaders who would work with the Speaker to the advantage of the National Democratic Congress.
“One of my top priorities in Parliament is to see our Parliamentary Caucus collaborate with the Speaker of the House.
Why did we struggle to elect an NDC member as Speaker of Parliament?
There are undoubtedly some advantages.
And those benefits can be realized when your leadership collaborates with the Speaker.
So we cannot have a situation in which the NPP leadership cooperates with the Speaker while our NDC leadership struggles to cooperate with the Speaker.
And what do you do if you’re assigned to a party whose leadership in Parliament isn’t cooperating?
You either make the changes or resign.
“And I’m not about to resign,” he added.
