Temporary Traffic Diversion on Accra-Kumasi Highway After Crash at Birimso Bridge
The Ghana Police Service has announced a temporary traffic diversion on the Accra-Kumasi Highway following a road crash at Birimso Bridge.
In a public notice shared on its official Facebook page today, August 3, 2026, the Service said the N6 Highway has been completely blocked for both Accra and Kumasi-bound traffic.

The Police notice reads in full:
“PUBLIC NOTICE!!
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC DIVERSION ON THE ACCRA-KUMASI HIGHWAY
There is a pile-up road crash at Birimso Bridge on the N6 Highway (Accra-Kumasi highway), involving a high-occupancy passenger bus, a loaded articulated truck, and a sedan, resulting in a complete blockade of the road for Accra and Kumasi-bound traffic.
The Eastern South Regional Police MTTD team from Kibi are at the scene, and have temporarily diverted the traffic through Kibi at Nsutam for Accra bound traffic, and at Apedwa, for Kumasi-bound traffic, today 3/08/2026.
We entreat motorists and other road users to cooperate with the officers on the ground as they work to restore normal traffic flow.”

According to the Police, officers from the Eastern South Regional MTTD team from Kibi are at the scene managing traffic and working to restore normal flow.
Motorists have been advised to follow the diversion directives and cooperate with officers on the ground.
