The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has denied viral claims that GH¢200 million belonging to the institution was stolen by a former bodyguard of its CEO, Sammy Gyamfi.

GoldBod said the claim is false and misleading, stressing that Dominic Bonsu, the person named in the report, was never Sammy Gyamfi’s bodyguard or personal security officer.

The Board also denied giving or losing GH¢200 million to Dominic Bonsu or his company, Dominic Bonsu Ventures.

GoldBod explained that Dominic Bonsu Ventures had its licence suspended over alleged breaches of GoldBod’s licensing requirements and trading directives.

Bonsu was subsequently arrested and remanded by the High Court in Accra, with the matter currently before the court.

GoldBod has urged the public and media to disregard the viral claim and rely on verified information from official sources.
