The Ghana Police Service is urging the public to ignore a flyer making rounds on social media. The flyer falsely claims to be from the Police Service and states that using AirPods, earphones, or other audio devices while driving or riding is illegal. The facts:

The Ghana Police Service did not issue this flyer and has not authorized it. Our Cybercrime Unit is currently investigating to identify those behind it. What the Police are saying:
While there is no specific ban on AirPods or earphones in the current law, the Service reminds all motorists and riders that anything that distracts you, blocks your hearing, or reduces your control and awareness on the road is dangerous. Please avoid distractions and stay fully alert while driving or riding. The Service also encourages all road users to read and obey the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), as well as all other traffic laws.

Following these rules helps reduce crashes and saves lives. A copy of the relevant section is attached for reference. For accurate information on traffic regulations and public safety, please rely only on official Ghana Police Service channels. The Police Service remains committed to enforcing traffic laws fairly and working with all stakeholders to keep our roads safe.
